Why it’s worth it
Brushing and flossing handle the day to day, but they can’t reach the hardened tartar that builds up below the gumline. Left alone, that build-up is what leads to bleeding gums, stubborn bad breath, and eventually the kind of decay that means a dentist and a much bigger bill.
A professional cleaning clears it out, smooths every tooth so plaque has less to cling to, and gives a trained hygienist the chance to catch a small problem while it’s still small. Most people walk out feeling like they’ve hit reset.
The hardened build-up a toothbrush simply can't shift.
The kind that actually lasts, not just until lunch.
Cavities and gum disease spotted before they hurt.
Surface stains lift off, no whitening required.
Hygienist or dentist?
A lot of people search for a dentist or a dental clinic when what they actually need is a cleaning. Here’s the part most people don’t know: in British Columbia a registered dental hygienist can do your cleaning, scaling, polishing and exam directly, with no dentist referral. That’s the whole visit most people go to a dental office for.
So if you’re comparing dental clinics near BCIT or across Burnaby, a dedicated dental hygiene clinic like ours is often the faster, more affordable option for routine care. If you ever need a filling, crown or extraction, we’ll point you to a trusted dentist for that part.

What to expect
First time at an independent dental hygiene clinic? Here’s exactly how an appointment goes.
1
We review your medical and dental history, including any medications and allergies, plus anything that's been bothering you.
2
We assess the hard and soft tissue, take digital X-rays if you need them, and check how your daily oral hygiene routine is working.
3
We remove plaque and tartar from above and below the gumline.
4
A smooth finish that leaves teeth feeling clean and looking brighter.
5
A quick fluoride treatment to strengthen enamel. Not covered by the BCIT plan, but you can add it for $20.
6
A few no-pressure tips to keep it that way, and a dentist referral only if you need one.
A cleaning appointment takes about 50 minutes. Book twice a year and you’ll rarely need anything more.
Our services
Everything you’d expect from a dental hygiene clinic, in one spot on campus. Most preventive care is covered by student and extended health plans.
Covered by plan
Plaque and hardened tartar removed above and below the gumline, then a polish to finish. This is the visit most plans cover, so in most cases you pay nothing at the desk.
Covered by plan
A full check of your teeth, gums and soft tissue at your first visit, with a dentist referral only if you actually need one.
Not covered, ask us
Professional in-clinic whitening that lifts years of coffee, tea and wine stains in a single visit.
Not covered, ask us
Moulded from an impression of your own teeth, so it stays put and actually protects.
Not covered, ask us
Quick, painless treatments that strengthen enamel, stop early decay and seal the grooves where cavities start. Not covered by the BCIT plan.
No extra charge
Can't make it to campus? We can bring a professional cleaning to you. Book it online just like any other appointment.
Brighten your smile
Coffee, tea, red wine and time all dull a smile. Our professional whitening lifts those deeper stains in a single visit, with a registered hygienist watching your gums the whole way. It’s far stronger than a drugstore kit, and you can add it to a regular cleaning and walk out a few shades brighter the same day.
Using your coverage
We bill most student and extended health plans directly, so in most cases you pay $0 at the desk. Once you book, we send a predetermination to your insurer to confirm what’s covered. If anything falls outside your plan, we tell you before your appointment, so there are never any surprises.
Studying somewhere other than BCIT? We direct bill most student plans from any school, so your coverage works here too.
